Canglong Group has arranged shipment for the steel structure plant project in Tanzania

On the morning of July 3, 2025, the industrial park of Canglong Group was bustling with activity. This is the core steel components tailored for the steel structure plant project of Tanzanian customers being packed and loaded. This batch of steel structure kits, which embody China’s smart manufacturing and engineering wisdom, includes hundreds of tons of H-shaped steel beams/columns, C-shaped steel purlins, Z-shaped steel supports and high-precision square tubes. This batch of goods will be shipped to Qingdao Port and will cross the Indian Ocean in a 25-day sea voyage, injecting “Chinese power” into the modern industrial plant on the East African Plateau.

As the core supplier of the project, Canglong Group is deeply involved in the early design and demand docking. In view of the special climate of high temperature and heavy rain in Tanzania, occasional tropical cyclones, and the customer’s requirements for the plant’s “large span, high load, and fast construction period”, the steel selection and process solutions have been specially optimized. The H-shaped steel of the main structure is made of Q355B high-strength low-alloy steel, and the cross-sectional dimensions precisely match the 24-meter span design. A single beam weighs 8.6 tons, and after hot-dip galvanizing, the anti-corrosion period exceeds 25 years. The C/Z-shaped steel is cold-bent with 1.2mm thick galvanized sheet, and the surface zinc layer thickness reaches 275g/㎡, which can not only meet the load requirements of lightweight purlins, but also resist the high humidity erosion in the tropical rainy season. The supporting square tube is made of Q235B material with a wall thickness of 4mm. Through three-dimensional CNC cutting, it ensures seamless connection with the main structure, and the error is controlled within ±2mm, laying the foundation for subsequent rapid assembly.

Since the signing of the project, the team has completed three on-site surveys and five rounds of drawing verifications with Tanzanian engineers. In view of the imperfect local power grid supporting characteristics, a modular pre-assembly solution was specially designed. All components are 80% pre-assembled in the factory area according to the factory building division, and the on-site hoisting can be completed in only 3 days after arriving at the port, which shortens the construction period by 40% compared with the traditional mode. At present, the Tanzanian customer has sent on-site representatives to supervise the whole process. After the first ship arrives at the port, the subsequent batches will be shipped in stages according to the construction progress to ensure that the main body of the factory building is capped before the end of 2025.

delivery of steel structure factory project

From the laser cutting sparks in the workshop to the whistle of the giant ship at the port, Canglong Group uses the dual guarantee of Chinese precision and African speed to make the industrial dream far away in East Africa a reality. After the factory is put into use, it will be home to automobile parts production lines and agricultural product processing companies, and it is expected to create more than 2,000 local jobs, becoming a benchmark project for the upgrading of the manufacturing industry under Tanzania’s “Vision 2030”. The transoceanic journey of the steel dragon is writing a new chapter in China-Africa capacity cooperation.
